Krieg1337 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Hey guys, I am wondering if this is a good deal http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130401 Thanks
Timmy94 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 What does recertified mean??
maj0rgamer Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 (edited) i think recertified is basically the same as refurbished...most likely sent back to the manufacturer for checking after a return or something. It should be recertified to new condition but not brand new. Most likely previous store returns. doesn't look like a bad deal, but maybe you should look into the 8800gt instead if you want more bang...i think it's a little better. Check out this link for some info on the 8800gts and 8800gt... http://forums.overclockersclub.com/?showtopic=75718 edit: i found this for you. The price is nearly the same and this one should be new in box... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814133205 Edited November 25, 2008 by Maj0r Gamer
Dynamic Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 (edited) The GTS that he has picked on that link is a totally different card than the 640/320MB versions you have linked. The 8800GTS 512 is much faster than the 8800GT. Here is a quote i picked up from the benchmark that would explain the reason why, "The 8800 GTS 512 has 24% more shader processing power than the GT but just under 8% more memory bandwidth." 8800 GTS 512 vs. 8800 GT http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3175&p=4 Edited November 25, 2008 by Dynamic

The 8800GTS 512mb is the G92 core not the G80, and it outperforms the 8800GT 8800GTS G92 outperforms the 8800GT in pretty much every game The 8800GTS 640mb on the other hand is worse then the 8800GT. Edit: the 8800GTS 512mb often beats the 8800GTX, and that is pretty much the 9800GTX I think so anyways Edited November 25, 2008 by Darkfuneral1337

Krieg1337 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 sorry about any misinformation...i didn't know about a different version of the 8800gts when making that post. Its ok lol. Do you remember when newegg had that Asus 9800GT Ultimate? That was the 8800GTS 512mb with a new name, because the Ultimate had 128 streamprocessors, which is the same as the 8800GTS 512mb, instead of the 112 that the regular 9800GT has.
