Getting The Most Out Of The Antec Mini P180

I thought I'd share my experiences building a new system. This is the first time I've really gone to town on a new build, so it was a bit of an adventure. I'll primarily be using this as a workstation, I write software and find the need for high performance and lots of memory from time to time, it's always good to have a bit more resource to play with :-) I play some games, but obviously I'm not going for the top 3D scores here.

By budget was

Initially I was discouraged as I found it very difficult to get any more performance than stock speeds. I couldn't seem to get more than a FSB of 360 (x8.5=3060), even with the RAM low. Playing with voltages didn't seem to help me (as it appears to help others).

I got more success once I concentrated on FSB with CPU multiplier set low (x6) and low RAM clock. For some reason upping the voltages doesn't seem to help as I tried many combinations (NB, VTT, etc..). Perhaps the small board doesn't have the capacity to supply stably?

Once I got a FSB to 440 I whacked up the multiplier and RAM and all seemed to work nicely to my suprise. A modest Vcore increase is all I seemed to need. Vcore +0.05v, RAM at 2.0v (slightly under spec). I settled on 444 FSB for 3.78Ghz, RAM at 1066.

The system uses 220 watts when CPU loaded, 110 as I type this.

Any tips on getting a little more out of it?
