Cezaris Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Hello, Some time ago i was building my pc and ppl from thsi forum helped me alot THANK YOU. But now i need some help again. The problem is that my computer doesnt work properly (i mean it is working fine, but not as fast as it should). For some reaso n i get only 64 frames average on CSS max settings. So i mean what the hell happened? I think my PC should score about 260 fps. And crysis doesnt run too good too i get 25 fps on very high with no AA. Here are my computer specs: Q9550, club3d hd4870 oc(oc by the factory), a-data 4gb 800mhz+ ram, ga-ep45-ds5, samsung hard drive. Please help me ppl i dunno what to do... Archerzz Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Counter Strike sometimes has a max fps cap on the game try typing max_fps in the console and see if you can set it to soemthing like 150 it defaults at 300 i believe, but it might have gotten changed somehow. Error 404 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Does "max settings" include Vsync? If so, turn it off and see what happens. Vsync only lets the FPS get as high as the refresh rate - anywhere from 60-85 fps, depending on what you set it to. ~Error
bobthenoob112 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I had a similar problem like this, i built a reasonable computer (im not going to go into detail) and it ran fine, everything ran smoothly and then all of a sudden my FPS plummetted like a rocket, even simple 3D apps were slow (Trackmania United) what i loearned was to be careful with what i install, now i know this might sound drastic and it is, so only do this if you are sure and anyone else agrees with me... I wiped my HDD and reinstalled XP I was careful not to install random and unessecary crap and now it runs alot better! I got my FPS back, plus sevral annoying problems went away too! tho like i said, dont do this unless you are sure it isnt something else... hope this helps in some way... Thanks for reply, i am starting to think about reinstalling windows and reformating my hdd. Vsync is off i tried fpsmax command and it didnt gaved me anything, i am using cataclyst 8.11 with 8.11 drivers. I tried some different driver variations and it didnt helped. Maybe there is something bad with my OS i am using windows XP tho i will be upgrading to Vista sometime about christmas. I wanted to ask why i could get weird gpuz readings because it is far away from the reality. Umm and cpuz shows that my procesor clock is 200mhz with 6.5 multiplier when i am on idle hoewer when i start to play something or do some video editing mhz comes back to normal. Could this have something to do with low fps? If it could be turned off i would like to do so. Thanks for help peoplei really appreciate it. BTW sorry for my English. Error 404 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 The low CPU speed can be fixed by turning off Speedstep and S1E (any others) in the BIOS. I doubt it has much to do with the FPS, have you turned off Vsync? Error
