Crossfire Setup Question

OK, I just snagged another 4870 that was sitting around unused at my house. My dad and I are in the process of building 4 new rigs. Anyways, one rig is up and running (specs are in my signature), but the other rig was built in an Antec P182 and it turned out to be too small for the 4870 and the hard drives. So the 4870 in it was just sitting there. Since I'm at college, no one's finishing putting the rigs together (of course, right?). Therefore, I said, why don't I take that 4870 and Crossfire it in my rig at college until I get a change to finish up the other rigs. Anyways, I've never run SLI or Crossfire before and I want to know if I need to do anything special. Do I have to do anything other than hooking up the 6-pin power cables and snapping on the Crossfire bridge? Also, should I update to the 8.11 drivers or stick with 8.10?

Well, I put the second 4870 in an it doesn't seem to be working right. CCC won't let me enable CrossfireX, every time I check the box for it, click Apply and then OK and come back, it's still unchecked. Also, I tried using Riva Tuner to up the clock speeds to 776/900 (a small overclock) and it always reverts to 500/900. However, I can adjust the fan speed on both cards in Riva Tuner. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

oh no you may have my curse (crossfire unrelated) but whenever I try to over clock or even tell it to run the stock settings it should be running it defaults to it's power saving settings of 500/900 it's annoying as hell and idk how to fix it.
