I just bought parts for my new (and first) build! I got A Rosewill Challenger case, Rosewill 600w PSU, Asus M5A97 AM3+ mobo, AMD Phenom II BE 965 (3.4ghz), 8b GSkill RipJaws DDR3 PC12300 RAM (2x4gb), Cooler Master V-8 cpu cooler, WD VelociRaptor 150gb 10,000rpm HDD, HIS "Ice Q" Radeon 4670 HD graphics card, Samsung 22x burner, Vantec Nexus fan controller, and two additional 120mm blue LED case fans. Hopefully I've done my homework and this will all come together into a decent machine! I'm also gonna get a SSD to run Win7 Pro on, but it'll have to wait until funds are more plentiful!

If you are a gamer, I would seriously recommend you spend your money on a better graphics card instead of an SSD ...

Nothing wrong with a 4670. Not everyone needs a $500 card, especially if the resolution being played at is 1600x900 or lower.

The parts itself look good, and if you need any help getting it together, we're always eager to answer questions!

He already owns the GPU. It's a $500 build. :)

Looks like a solid build for $500 IMO... but i would have gone with a different hard drice, 150GB just isn't much anymore.

Agreed. I don't like the noise those VelociRaptors make either.

EDIT: Technically it was yesterday but I bought a set of new tires for the Miata. General HP Altimax 185/60R14 for $75 each after tax and environmental fees. Should be here within a week. :)

*Shouts* Noise? What noise? I can't hear mine at all over my 3 46 dBa fans and my 2 40 dBa fans.

enough power and enough channels

depends what you wan't some people want fancy temp or software controlled ones. Ones with rpm and temp read outs and other couldn't give two hoots and just want something simple and cheap to change the voltage.

I have a Zalman ZM-MFC1 fan controller, and it works just fine. It can handle up to six fans, four of which have the little twist knobs for precise control, and the other two have switches to choose between off, 6v, and 12v.

I forgot to mention the pump, it's also pretty loud, it's an MCP-655b or something like that.
