Smallsn Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) Another build I'm thinking of doing. And I hope it works out. Most likely I'm able to buy it in 3 weeks (December 3rd). Please help me out, if it makes sense and is able to fit with the system. And remember that this is going to be a gaming rig. Under 1.1K. This is probably around it, maybe i should think of another MOBO. I will be able to buy the comp around December the 3rd. So I will be gathering information on which Mobo Etc to choose. Firstly Motherboard MSI K9A2 PLATINUM AMD 790FX ATX Socket AM2 Phenom QC ~~ Another Mobo in Mind. Asus CrossHair II. Secondly Cpu AMD Quad Core 9950 Phenom X4 Case Apevia X-Cruiser or The Thermaltake V9 (Apevia pretty pricey. Just a bit. But the V9 still looks good) CPU Cooler Zalman CNPS9700 AM2 (Other decision?) GFX MSI Radeon HD 3870 (Have found a guy in my area, who is willing to sell it cheap) Power Supply Coolmaster 600W Thank you to whomever helps *Edit* Alright lets just start of fresh. Its either a intel or a AMD. I prefer using a AMD for some reason and would like to try it out. MOBO: Idea ATM. Asus M3A79-T-Deluxe AM2+ 790FX HT5200 DDR2 PCIE2.0 RAID 2xVGA GbLAN 2x1394a ATX http://www.umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=2 CPU: AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Black Edition AM2+ 2.5GHz 4MB Cache 125w Over - Clockable with fan http://www.umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=2 GPU: Asus EN9800GT 1G DDR3 PCIE2.0 2XDVI HDTV HDCP HDMI http://www.umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=2 RAM: CPU COOL: POWER SUPPLY: <3 OCC Edited November 14, 2008 by Smallsn
scr4wl Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 You will get much better performance out of an intel quad core then one from AMD but depending on the games you will be playing it shouldn't really matter. Is the GPU the 3870 x2 because otherwise i'd just pick up a new one from newegg (about $130)
Guest ajmatson Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Depending on the video cards you want to run (SLI or Crossfire in the future) I really like the Foxconn Destroyer and the ASUS Crosshair II. Also I would hold off to see what comes out near the end of the year and what prices drop because of it. I have both an Intel and and AMD test rig and even though FPS is lower on the AMD system a bit during game play it is hardly noticeable and I run 1920x1200 on an HD 4850 on med to high settings. damian Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Wait and see what AMD's new 45nm have to offer. If you do stick with AM2+ I'd go with a 790GX chipset instead (much better overclocking potential) that or a motherboard with a 790FX northbridge chipset and a 750SB chipset. Here are some pretty decent boards: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813186150 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131339 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131331

I will go and see the MB that you guys are having in mind. I've in mind the 3870 Not X2. Since it will go over my budget and I'm not sure if i have the intellegence to OC .
