Motherboard Graphics Vs Video Card Graphics

Recommended Posts

Im building a new HTPC and have a HD3650 hdmi and I was thinking about selling it and just going with a mobo with hdmi on it...I'm trying to make the htpc as silent as possible. But I dont want to lose video quality. Show I keep the HD3650 or do you know of any mobos with great or equal graphics onboard?

You'll just have to do some research. There are loads of great motherboards out there if all you want to do is watch video but don't expect them to play the latest games, keep the HD3650 if you want games!

Cheers

The IGP on most newer board will work great for you. What CPU is it for because the new 790GX board have Sideport Memory which boost the IGB by 10-15%

The CPU that I have is a Pentium D (I taking the parts from an old XPS 200)... I was thinking about getting a new cpu but some said have told me it doesnt matter what kind of cpu i'm using for 1080p. But as of now I have all this in my XPS 200 and when im playing blu-ray files that I've saved to my drive I get some glitching... thats whats Im building a new one and because I want to have newer parts.

but what is this Sideport Memory? its sounds to good to be true

It is a memory chip on the motherboard that is a frame buffer for the IGP. The IGP uses this faster buffer before accessing the system memory which is slower. Hence better performance. :)
