privateapples Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Im building a new HTPC and have a HD3650 hdmi and I was thinking about selling it and just going with a mobo with hdmi on it...I'm trying to make the htpc as silent as possible. But I dont want to lose video quality. Show I keep the HD3650 or do you know of any mobos with great or equal graphics onboard? There are loads of great motherboards out there if all you want to do is watch video but don't expect them to play the latest games, keep the HD3650 if you want games! tkrow21 Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 (edited) My brother's laptop has an integrated HD3650, maybe you can find a motherboard with the same card, (integrated). Edited November 11, 2008 by Krow
Zertz Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 All the newest IGP's do full HD perfectly. 780G, G45, GeForce8200
privateapples Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Wel I only ask because I need a motherboard if I keep the card or not. So I thought I could sell the card and use the $ to invest in a new IGP mobo
Waco Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 If you aren't going to be gaming the new integrated chips will display HD perfectly. You lose nothing except 3d performance by going with an integrated chipset.
Guest ajmatson Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 The IGP on most newer board will work great for you. What CPU is it for because the new 790GX board have Sideport Memory which boost the IGB by 10-15%
Crow47 Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I can say without any shadow of a doubt that the 3650 will FAR outclass ANY IGP in terms of 3D performance. The IGP's will do HD video fine, but the 3650 can do so much more.
privateapples Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 The CPU that I have is a Pentium D (I taking the parts from an old XPS 200)... I was thinking about getting a new cpu but some said have told me it doesnt matter what kind of cpu i'm using for 1080p. But as of now I have all this in my XPS 200 and when im playing blu-ray files that I've saved to my drive I get some glitching... thats whats Im building a new one and because I want to have newer parts. but what is this Sideport Memory? its sounds to good to be true
Guest ajmatson Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 It is a memory chip on the motherboard that is a frame buffer for the IGP. The IGP uses this faster buffer before accessing the system memory which is slower. Hence better performance.
