Im new here and a little stupid and not yet an overclocker so I need help with stuff that you all must know. I installed a second 500G SATA HDD in my BOX system and would like to have it shut down to save wear when not in use. Does anyone out there have a suggestion. I have it set to record TV sports and TV series and watch them later. Also I would like to know details on what are the BEST components and how to build a "HOT ROD" system for around $1,200.00 not including the monitor. I just want FAST for the buck.

The how is the easy part. I have a guide written :)

For $1200, here's my list:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 $269.99

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P 136.99 - MIR

CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) $118 - MIR

PC Power & Cooling S61EPS 610W $109.99 - MIR

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB $74.99

VisionTek Radeon HD 4870 512MB $274.99

LIAN LI PC-A17B $199.99

SAMSUNG Black SATA DVD Burner $24.99

My newegg cart comes to $1,199.93 (and then there's an additional $30 or so for shipping)...but you also can bring that down by $80 with MIR's (which you can allocate to a good heatsink :)). The case is expensive, you can get a Antec 900 and reallocate the $100 or so difference.

:thumbs-up:
