ARandomOWL Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Looks like my ideal setup. Only thing I would change is the Q9550 to an E8600, but I would use it for benching anyway so it's up to you.
Geekspeak411 Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 I would probably go with the OCZ Reaper HPC or FLEX 1600 with that budget. Also you will be stretching the power supply with all that stuff, you may even want a 900-1000W supply. You will need a case with a lot of airflow for all those parts and I did not see any CPU cooler or paste on there either. I would recommend the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, it has unparalleled performance, and the Arctic Silver 5 paste is some of the most highly acclaimed pastes out there. PM me if you have any other questions. =)

alexvision Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 If this is a gaming rig then a E8600 would be better, as most games can't use 4 cores. Plus with this core you can push 5ghz Not sure about water cooling, never used it.

fire_storm Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Looks like a pretty nice setup have a few suggestions though. Possibility wait until core I7 comes out? It's suppose to be only about a month away know. Maybe change the Motherboard to a Gigabyte or DFI? I personally never been a fan of Asus.
