!TIMMY! Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I am trying to get my PC stable with my Q6600 @ 3.6 (450 x 8), and ram @ 1128mhz 5-5-5-15-2T. I bought this cpu 2nd hand because it can do 3.6ghz (450 x 8) @ 1.3375 vcore, 100.23% special add, vdroop: disabled; in a DFI X48 UT. I have had my ram at 1175mhz @ 5-5-5-15-2T before, but I have having problems getting them stable together. With the current settings below, it will last 1 minute on OCCT before the PC locks up. The max temperature any CPU core reached was 63C. My chipset temps are fine. The AS5 still need time to cure and my water cooling loop still needs to settle, so I think temps will reduce over time. paulktreg Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 The power supply isn't the best and I would definately consider replacing it as it may be the cause of your problems. Regards Paul
!TIMMY! Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 The power supply isn't the best and I would definately consider replacing it as it may be the cause of your problems. Regards Paul Cheers for the reply. My PSU kept my other Q6600 @ 3.3ghz with 1.4v, ram @ 1175mhz with 2.15v stable. And now I am using less voltage on both the cpu and ram. I believe that SilverPower are a subsidiary of Tagan so I would have thought it would be up to the challenge.
paulktreg Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 This caught my eye: Silverpower 600W Review. Weak 5V line and with a DFI board? Maybe it'll be OK. Regards Paul
kingdingeling Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 DFI boards like a strong 5V rail, that's all I know from my old DFI Lanparty SLI-DR Expert

crazy8s846 Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 The first thing id do is run prime95 small ffts to see if it is the cpu that is not stable, at least that way you would know if it is the ram, or the cpu, once you know the cpu is stable you can work on the ram. Just an addition to that thought to make it perfectly clear - Strap the memory down to where you know it isn't the memory. Get the CPU stable at your target, and then work on the ram. Trying to OC both at once leaves you in the exact position you are in. You have a problem and you don't have a clue why you have the problem. My dear old mom used to tell me that patience is a virtue.

I changed the divider and went back to a 9 x multi. I have it OCCT stable at 3.6ghz (400 x 9) with 1.35 vcore with special add on auto (about 1.38v according to OCCT), 1.405v NB and 2.10v RAM @ 1066 5-5-5-15 2T. I will try Prime as well to make sure it is stable. Maybe 450 x 8 just aint possible with my setup.
