slick2500 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 The southbridge on my DS3L get very toasty so I was wondering what would be better the Thermalright HR-05 or the Evercool VC-RE. I was planning on changing to a full cover block on my gpu so I don't know if the HR-05 would still fit.
dr_bowtie Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 the South bridge temps really arent an issue these days...I know they get warm but no where near their rated temp threshold... Passively is usually sufficient but if I had a choice I would opt for the VC-RE... all though I havent had a single board yet I have had to cool the south bridge actively....gaming or clocking or both... troy5061 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 The only mobo I ever put put a SB cooler on was my Asus P5N-E SLI board when I had the E8400 running at 3.6ghz. It didnt come with a SB heatsink so I put on a cheap stick on Coolermaster one off the Egg. It was like 6 bucks but did the job. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...pk=coolermaster
