spikespiegel Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Hey guys, i used to be a member here a few years ago and I can't seem to find my ol' username so I re-registered. Anyway, after having an ancient amd opteron 170 system die on me, i decided to upgrade just a lil bit. Got a Asus p5qe p45 mobo and a q6600 intel quad cpu along with some ocz 4gb ram. My question was, i want to re-use my old heatsink i had which was a thermaltake big typhoon (with a big 120mm crazy . delta fan); i'm wondering if this HS will fit the mobo layout? (heres the heatsink: http://www.overclockercafe.com/Reviews/coo...t_Big_Typhoon/) and how effective that cooling setup will be with a quadcore system? I haven't been in the overclocking scene for quite some time so im' really rusty haha, hoping for some input.. Thanks!
Comp Dude2 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Well it should fit the following sockets: Intel LGA775, Intel P4 478 pin, AMD K7, AMD K8, AMD Sempron And that board is LGA775, so i'd say you are good to go As for effectiveness i'd say there are probably better solutions about but they wont be massively better so just try the typhoon and see what it's like.
