Smolt Makes The Intel Move. What Dfi X48 Board ? Dfi Fricks Needed

Recommended Posts

Ok what I have so far :

Corsair HX 1000watt PSU

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor

2 X XFX PVT98UZHF9 GeForce 9800 GX2 1GB (512MB per GPU) 512-bit (256-bit per GPU) GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready in SLI

2x 64gb OCZ Core Series SATA II 2.5" SSD in raid 0

Lian-Li PC-60FB Mid Tower Case - Black

3007WFP-HC monitor native resolution of 2560x1600

OK Need input here guys

I'm thinking on getting the:

OCZ Flex XLC 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1200 (PC2 9600) But some say that it wont keep up with the DDR3 on the video cards?

Now what Board? I'm going DFI unless the pros tell me I'm wrong. But better be good :D

DFI LANPARTY LT X48-T3RS LGA 775 Intel X48

DFI LANPARTY LT X48-T2R LGA 775 Intel X48

DFI LANPARTY UT X48-T2R LGA 775 Intel X48

I haven't done the home work so i don't know the difference between the three or the different between LT OR UT Just Accessories ?

AND what cooling for CPU ?

You have a nice little rig there :)

It seems like your budget is quite flexible, so why not aim for DDR3 instead? RAM doesn't affect your GPU's performance. Also, GDDR3 != DDR3, it's more like tweaked DDR2. GDDR4 is derived from DDR3 and GDDR5 does some tricks that doubles memory bandwidth.

And from what I've read, those DFI boards aren't what they used to be. IMO a high-end Asus or Gigabyte will do just as well or better and be alot easier to work with

Opps, didn't even notice that <_<

If the cards aren't bought, just go with a 4870X2, otherwise pick up a 790i board

Not sure you can run both GX2's with the X48 chipset (hacked drivers, maybe?). Unless, of course, you're going to fold on all 4 GPUs ;)

Grate call man hmmm now what I can use just one of them right?

How about the LANPARTY UT P35-T2R will it do SLI?

You can use one card yes.

P35, X38, X48, P43, P45 are all ATI Chipsets

For SLI you want 680i, 780i or 790i to name a few.

I'd suggest you get a 4GB kit (2x 2GB) and then it depends how much you're willing to spend on it ;) Aim for atleast 1333MHz
