Verran Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Does anyone know the distance a supporter has to be from the polling place to try and get you to vote for a particular candidate? They had lines drawn with chalk at the school where I voted. I'm sure what the actual distance is though.

ClayMeow Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 My coworker got approached by an Obama supporter about 15-20 ft from the entrance. That has to be illegal.

Parties here are expected to have a representative on the door to talk to people, although it tends to be more pronounced by the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats

LoArmistead Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Not here. You've got to leave any attempt to sway votes 75 feet from the door. Do Black Panther security guards count?
Compxpert Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Do Black Panther security guards count? I heard about that.... This has me a little worried... AFIK there hasn't been such a thing as voter intimidation in years.
suchuwato Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 During the 2008 election, poll watchers found a pair of New Black Panther Militia members outside of a polling place in Philadelphia. Some poll watchers and voters felt intimidated because one of militia members was brandishing a nightstick. When asked, they militia members said they were "security" and "tired of white supremacy". The Black Panther with the nightstick was escorted away by the police. The other militia member, remained outside the polling place denying all reports to reporters, even when shown the video tape he said, "I don't know what ya talking about." [12] According to Fox News, the member who remained was an official poll watcher.[13] It's the New Black Panther Militia.

ClayMeow Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Tends to be 100 feet in most places. That's what we thought. I told my coworker he should call Fox News
suchuwato Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 That's what we thought. I told my coworker he should call Fox News So they could report that there were swarms of locusts attacking Republican voters with used syringes with AIDs and hurling flaming copies of the Qur'an at their children? Angry_Games Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Well, I can definitely say I'm satisfied with the results. I truly hope rich old white men are quaking in their boots, but the funny thing is, they don't have any reason to (other than Hannity and Limbaugh screaming nonsensical hatred to keep them ignorant). Finally after all this time, Americans have possibly grown up. There will be plenty of you who can't accept it, and will be hateful, and that is an unfortunate legacy we live with. Peace to all.
