Physx In Ati

Blackfire

Recommended Posts

They'd be boosting their market considerably if they managed to get it working 100%. What makes you think it'd hurt them?

it would help in the short run, but nvidia owns cuda/physx. what if they say no more to ati? if both companies use it, people will adopt it. nvidia owns it, so what if they cut them off- more games that would cut performance. Kinda liek when nvidia only gave intel the nf2 chipset for their 'extreme' boards for sli and crossfire. nvidia is manipulating

looks like nvidia will keep backing the haxors anyway, so it might not matter if amd doesnt give consent

and ageia was a company. ageia=physx=nvidia=cuda. :thumbs-up:

I don't think even nVidia would try something as low-handed as that. Hell, it might be illegal based on the contract ATI and nVidia have regarding the technology.

PhysX is not the same thing as Cuda though.

nVidia buys Aegia.

Intel buys Havok.

nV trash talks Intel.

Intel gives Havok to AMD.

nVidia is the lone supporter of PhysX (and can't make a chipset for Nehalem).

I guess Intel doesn't like nVidia too much :wub:

PhysX can run on ATI cards, it has been found.

ATI probably doesnt want to support physx, because mroe people would adopt it, and it is nvidias child now. which would be them shooting themselves in the foot if ever they did.

intel recently gave amd a booster shot- the use of the popular havok-physics. on cpu and gpu. nvidia's losing money, because of a gross under-estimate of ati/amd. They recovered quick from the merger i'd say. just in time.

havok =intel/amd

physx=nvidia.

both are similar in that they help computers deal with physics. but the approach they take is very different.

ageia was the company that originally produced the physx cards, which you can still find. the only benefit is smoother physics in games.

Well said.

Nvidia is in a nasty spot right now(only company without a "complete package" system setup since Intel is jumping into the graphics segment), and their physX technology is one of the things they are banking on to help them in the future. Giving ATI rights to that would lose their advantage in that field - and ati would be basically giving the whole physx game to nvidia by adopting it.
