$390 for 4 GB of RAM? I paid $140 for 8 GB.

Definitely STAY AWAY from Blose.

Velociraptors are nice...but you only need one. Better - get an older RaptorX for a hell of a lot less.

Freezer 7 == no go.

Can't really complain about the rest.

That gigabyte board is awesome however you'll need to change it for DDR2 so what about this DFI, X48 chipset for crossfire and loads of options to ensure you can tweek that rig to the max. And something like this patriot ram seems pretty good value for a viper kit. (well it costs less than 4gb of the cheapest 800Mhz in the uk so anything looks good value lol) Clears you to a 533mhz fsb :)

biggest problem i see like others already said is the bose (BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment). i try my absolute hardest to try to keep people from throwing alot of money away... dont get me wrong, bose isnt the flat out turd that most make it to be but it is turd for the price they charge.

only other problem again like others mentioned is that heatsink....grab a TRUE off ebay if nothing else. unfortunatly i dont know jack about ddr3 so i cant comment.

ok so i think i'll leave the speakers for the moment and pick some up a lil later on. I like DFI boards but I feel alot more comfortable with Gigabyte mobo's so im thinking maybe this Gigabyte X48-DQ6 for 280.00 and this OCZ Reaper HPC DDR2 1066 2x2gb for 133.00. that will save me a lil money. and Im going to try and get a Thermalright 120 extreme for the cpu cooler but newegg is still sold out so i may have to look elsewhere. I will be running xp pro for now until Windows 7 comes out.

Get the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme from jab-tech

Maybe even watercooling?

As for the motherboard, if you want a truly beast motherboard look at the Foxconn Blackops X48

And just my suggestion but i would go with the Corsair HX1000W PSU instead

I'd say the PSU is fine...

DDR2...

TRUE...you can find one (I did)

I would recommend another case. I mean, if you've got all of that crammed into mid-tower, steel case...you're probably not going to have fun. I really really like the Lian-li cases...and I've been taking a serious look at some of the mountain-mods cases as well (I really really like the H2go but...I'm not sure the TRUE will fit). Go with all aluminum!

Vista X64 if you can...

Skip the BOSE...too pricey for cheap paper cones...go with some Klipsch, or something along those lines.

Skip the Creative cards...get an Auzentech. Less headache, and you can upgrade the op-amps.

Freezer7 sucks and you didn't count shipping - you are way over budget if ya got 4 grand!!

Also, quadfire for a 1920 x 1200 monitor is overkill - a single 4870X2 can already max anything out at that res, while still using tons of AA/AF.

Is storage space that important to you? If you only want performance, those two WD's are already well into SSD price territory, which would blow them away.

Ahh......how could i forget, SSD! SSD! they are awsome. 64Gb OCZ core ones are cheaper than the Vraptors :)

Also remember he is doing this for benchmarks etc, which will love the quad crossfire.
