780i Or P5n-t Deluxe

Recommended Posts

Which motherboard would be the best for using with the following:

Q6600

and OCZ reaper 4gb 1066mhz

uses for the rig are extreme gaming and general PC use (internet, word processing, abit of dreamwaver and photoshop)

Would like to overclock as much as I can and try to run stable at around 3.2ghz everyday and bench at 3.6ghz

using the XFX GTX 260 XXX edition as a GFX card

thanks

i have a q6600 780i and a gtx260 i run stable 3.6 and bench at 3.7-3.9.

i hated it, and after some bios updates i dont even care about the NB cooling because @ 1.45 it doesnt even heat up that bad for me.

in 8x i can hit 1850 so the FSB isnt super low, but its an NVIDIA chip so there are some FSB holes.

in the end i loved it hated it now its just there and dont feel like replacing it.

tri SLI , easy vdroop solution, in the end bleh its whatever. lol

no prob, ask away. im using 1.56v for 3.6 rock solid. but the vcore is more of a "every proc. needs different" situation.

i have a swiftech apogee gt waterblock, but before i had used a zalman 9700cnps that at 1.55v kept it @ low 60's when 100% loaded.

IF YOU MUST BUY A 780i BOARD DO NOT BUY THE P5N-T DELUXE!!!! IT GET'S NO SUPPORT FROM ASUS AT ALL, THEY DON'T RELEASE NEW BIOSES OR ANYTHING AND IT WAS ULTIMATELY THE WORST MOTHERBOARD I'VE EVER OWNED. You can still go Asus but just do not get that specific board. Unless you're going to SLI i'd not even use an Nvidia chipset but since your name is Benvidia I'm assuming that's pretty much what you'll be doing lol. To be safe I'd get another companies version of the 780i because then you can get new bioses from Nvidia directly because Asus makes their own bios.
