Anarkist Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Hey everyone. Was wondering (disregarding price) which would be the best performing GTX260 you'd choose? From what I've read so far, I like the look of the EVGA and the XFX xXx Edition. Also, if price was taken into account which is the best value for money GTX260? The best value I've seen so far is probably going to be the Palit card (however that probably depends on which country you're from) Thanks for helping me out
r3d c0m3t Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 (edited) EVGA FTW, the only thing better in terms of clock speed is the BFG with the waterblock. You could, however, purchase the XFX and overclock it. By the way, welcome to the OCC and how does it feel knowing you're talking to someone living in the past? Crazy_Nate Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I would say, go with a cheap one with a good warranty (my cards have been evga and XFX - evga has a step up program and XFX has the double lifetime warranty). Then...overclock it yourself (rivatuner). You can usually hit the "stock OC'ed" card's frequencies pretty easily. Just modify the fan profile to something that is acceptable for you (but better than stock) and turn up the speed (while watching temperatures). There are plenty of programs out there to help you verify your OC's stability. :thumbs-up: EDIT: It's really easy
cirro Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 i have my gtx 260 vanilla faster than a FTW. its a monster overclocker, save your money and get the basic or if you really want a watercooled part just get the HC edition, still cheaper than a vanila gtx + waterblock on its own i think.. ccokeman Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 THe Evga full cover block is about $170 on its own. My frame of reference is limited to the FTW version from EVGA. IT was a nice card that still had more left in the tank. Not something the highest factory clocked cards usually allow.
