deltron_tsc Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 (edited) Okay, off stock cooling I wasn't able to push past 420/373... I recently got a TT Giant II... and it works very well for the GPU (unfortunately it doesn't help the ram very much, since it doesn't touch it)...I was able to attach a P4 cooling fan on the underside of the card...so I was able to get some heat off the sink from there... but anyway, couple of questions here... 1. When I oc my GPU up to 461mhz, I start seeing artifacts when I don't touch the ram clock, what's the deal with that? Ofcourse, as I lower my GPU's clock, fragmentation occurs less and less... it it because as I up my GPU clock my ram has to work harder automatically? 2. What's a good ramsink set I should consider using? If i'm going to use them in combination, I'll have to have some low-pro ones... C0DE Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 anyways.. good deal. for the ramsinks im not sure there are any that will fit on the bottom there. plus ramsinks only show a slight improvement if you have airflow over them, and even then you may get a couple more mhz o/c. i could be wrong but i have always just thought they were for looks.. even my corsair ram heatsinks dont do anything.. if you remove them half of the sink bars are not even touching.. anyways ramsinks do look nice.. <--- showoff
deltron_tsc Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Yeah, I'm getting wonders for my GPU overclocking... I still haven't been able to make it lock up! I was pushing 464mhz but I didn't bother going any further due to artifacts... no point, but if I could cool down the ram somehow, I'd be able to get some more juice outta this thing. I tried to help getting the heat off the back side of the card by mounting a P4 fan on it. I'm sure it does something haha. But yeah, it'll be a tight fit to get some ramsinks int here, i'll have to shave them down no doubt... I'll also need to get some air in there as well. Ziggy54354 Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Since you have the giantII cooler you probably dont have enough headroom for ramsinks right..? wrong, check these out. I have a zalman and i plan on getting some of these to cool my ram off. Its intended for sticks of ram but im pretty sure itll work on a graphics card too. Also you might wanna get some kinda fan blowing from the side to cool these off.
