Cool series - TV or otherwise

Recommended Posts

I've just finished watching Battlestar Galactica Series 3 and whilst waiting for series 4 I plan to watch Razor and Heroes series 2 which starts real soon. As I currently have a new baby I found myself being used as baby bed and sick sponge at "odd" times and need to fill these periods with some passive entertainment, ergo the TV. I would be interested in peoples recommendations for cool stuff to watch with a strong slant on Sci-Fi (my main preference as I've been reading and watching since I can remember) but I'm fairly flexible especially for high-octane action or a great story.

As to BSG 3 I kinda concur with a lot of opinions that state its the weaker of the bunch. Not that its bad, but its just not as good as the first two. I sometimes got the feeling whilst watching it that the writers/directors/producers whoever had been overly influenced by the (fake) reality TV shows. Anyway bring it on as I need to fill the bags under my eyes! I already have Loose Change lined up and has anyone watched a film called "Mr Brooks" and "3.10 to Yuma"? Are they worth watching or should I give the films back?

Lost, 4400, Heroes, House, Bones.. I'll add some more when I remember what else wifey got me watching. If it wasn't for her getting me into these shows I'd probably just stay online.

Reel listed some good ones. I hear 4400 is good, though ive never seen it. I would add "24" to that list as i really enjoyed watching the few seasons my roommate has on dvd.

I just started to watch all the seasons to The Office (US), I thought that it would be a butchered version of the excellent UK version but its right on par with it, man its sooo freaking funny. The Lost writers strike I believe is over so we should be getting back into that, awesome show, Heroes was another excellent show, on paper it seems stupid but it really holds your interest, great writing. 24 was outstanding EllisD I enjoyed the hell out of that, the real time aspect was a great idea. Man, Jack Bauer has some really crappy days lol.

I'm a big fan of House and that always get watched. Heroes s2 starts tonight so that's getting watched.

Bones has never really intrigued me but the wife likes it. As to Lost I've been advised to avoid it as it just goes on and on and on and on...

I got bored of 24 halfway through the second series, the jumpy edits and multiple screens just irritated me.

4400 sounds interesting but is it a closed story or something that will be milked as a cash cow?

No mention of Firefly yet huh? Well I guess save the best for last...otherwise I second Arrested Development. Can't really comment on many others since I watch maybe 3 hours of TV a week unless I'm trying to put down a whole season of something.

Anyways, both those movies you listed are good enough to watch once, they aren't anything special in my opinion but they're alright.

Reno911?? I can't stand that show. Totally forgot about Weeds and Prison Break, those I watch as well. South Park, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Futurama, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and American Dad are of course on my list too, but I just assume everybody watches those. One show that I was really liking, not sure if it got canned, was The Loop. My wife's been watching How I met your mother and How clean is your house lately too.

I liked "Drive" but FOX canned it mid-way through the first season; didn't help that they didn't start airing it until the January.

Yeah the wife and I started getting into that one, didn't even make 1/2 way through, they might bring it back though the show really wasn't bad. I can see why they canned it, since the story would play out quickly, but it would have made a cool mini-series.

One really cool mini-series was Fallen, it's about angels and stuff, but you definitely don't have to be religious to enjoy that one. Lots of action and a pretty cool story line.
