All zeroes in SmartGuardian.

Recommended Posts

I was hoping to use SmartGuardian to reduce fan speeds. Downloaded a new (?) version from ITE's homepage, but it showed all zeroes in voltages and fan speeds. Uninstalled that and replaced it with the SG from DFI homepage, but that one also displays only zeroes everywhere. Tried reinstall but that didn't work either.

SysTool displays fan speeds and voltages correctly. SmartGuardian used to work in my previous Windows installation, about a year ago.

Anyone got any ideas what I should do?

Did you download the correct version of SmartGuardian? I ask this because SmartGuardian is programmed differently for each motherboard. There are no 2 SmartGuardian programs that are alike. Go to the following link and download the correct version for your motherboard.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply!

That's the version I've got. Maybe there's some junk left from the SmartGuardian I downloaded from ITE's website that I haven't managed to get rid off.. That file was called SGuardian_it8712_8900135-250.zip so it ought to be for the correct chip.

Make sure that you completely uninstall the previous version of SmartGuardian. Check to make sure that the SmartGuardian folder in Program Files is deleted as well.

Also, there's a BIOS update available for your motherboard. If I were you, I would get the update and flash the board. Get it here: http://us.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/bios..._FLAG=B&SITE=NA
