BEAMS Posted April 17, 2008 What do you guys recommend? My price range is around 150-160. I've been looking at this card. I like how well it seems to oc with stock heatsink/fan. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814127333
wevsspot Posted April 17, 2008 I've had great luck with MSI video cards, and the last three of four video cards I've purchased for myself have been based on the nVidia gpu (the lone hold out was my beloved ATi X1900XT). So, based on my experience with nVidia gpu's, and MSI specifically, I'd have to whole heartedly agree with your pending purchase. Now I'll have to add a disclaimer...... I don't have any personal experience with the latest 9600 series of cards, but everything that I've read seems to shed a fairly favorable light on the card. So I don't think you can go wrong at that price point. If you have an extra $30 to spend then it might be wise to spring for the 8800GT though.
Bill_v Posted April 17, 2008 You may want to give this one (EVGA 8800GT) here serious consideration, especially after the rebate brings the price down to $159.99: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130318 If I had waited 3 more weeks to build my system I would have grabbed this one. pkilway Posted April 17, 2008 The MSI is super. I know a few people that purchased it and love it. I was in a similar situation myself a few weeks ago, and went with the MSI 8800GT because I thought with my older 939 system the extra gpu power of the 8800GT engine would be a better compliment. BEAMS Posted April 19, 2008 After a very long time comparing, reading reviews, and benchmarks. The 9600 gt is not even on my radar..... Heres why i chose the EVGA 512-P3-N801-AR GeForce 8800GT 1- It will run all my games better then the 9600 gt. 2- The EVGA 8800 gt is cheaper then the MSI gt after rebates 3- Awesome benchmarks that are very close to the 400$ 8800 GTX! 4- In my price range of 160$ after rebate. benchmarks- http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforc...mb,1743-14.html Thanks everyone for your help.
