Newark 4000+ Mobile/Memory Upgrade

Recommended Posts

hi all,

i really want to unlock the power of the newark, i know a lot of you on here have got it to the 3.0ghz barrier but i am having a hard time getting it to overclock. after a hundred or so variations of my bios memory timings/fsb/voltages, i have concluded my memory is not allowing me to overclock past 2.7ghz stable. i wanted to know if these mushkin redlines will work with my nf3 board? is it possible to run these in ddr500? i think i would get a huge performance boost if possible. if there are any other modules u would like to recommend please do so, thanks!

They should work as long as the motherboard can handle them.

There have been cases where people have had that ram over DDR500 speeds.

Yes you will notice a difference between the 1GB and 2GB of ram.

Look through the for sale section and see if anyone has any good DDR 1 kits for sale to save yourself some money.

I tried doing what you want to do, but with ocz pc400 with infineon chips, (2X1gb sticks). I couldn't get past 2.8ghz. I had the same set-up as you...nf3 250bg dfi board, amd 4000+ mobile naked cpu, (i bought it cuz i saw a few people get them up to 3ghz.

Turns out the cpu didn't like infineon chips. OCZ was very kind to me and upgraded my ram to pc500 sticks. The platinum EL ones too. (Same as old ram, just pc500.) So i tried lowering my multi and raising fsb, using a divider, (i had the best luck with 166, but with just one gb of ram i could get higher. That mobile just seems to have a hard time with 2 gb's of infineon.

I hope you have better luck and get some micron d9 chips. I love my mushkin ram. Their tek support is just as good as ocz and they have done the same for other people here for free. (upgrade the ram). :)
