How long should I wait?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have finally gotten most everything I need, (I think), for my new rig. I was curious as to how long you guys think I should wait before I start tweaking? I usually like to wait at least a few weeks to get everything burned in before I touch anything in bios, but my black edition's unlocked multi is calling to me :D. I have been reading up on a lot of sites talking about how they took their BE multis up to 15x and 15.5x on stock voltage, and I am DYING to try mine out.

Anyway, I think you guys get my point, heh. New sig below. Thanks in advance.

If I do it....I do it right out of the box....

the 7050-M2 I got with the 5000BE I clocked right out of the box...I am running at 200x14 on stock voltage (1.25v) and I know it will do 15x200 on the same...

although i will say leaving the bus speed at the default 200 does kill some of the performance....i compare to 2 other rigs I got running 3Gs on fsb and this one on just the multi at 3Gs...about 15% slower....crank the bus and then it flies...maybe AMD should have released 266 and 333fsb CPUs?

Ok you twisted my arm :P Although, I'm quite tired this evening, so I think I'll wait until tommorow to crank the multi to 15x.

Although, I say that, and an hour after I've laid down, I'll be up and at the computer, heh.

Soooo, I'm sitting here watching occt run. I just changed the multi to 15x, and I'm gonna leave it there for now. It occurred to me though, that I don't know what the max temp for a brisbane is. The highest temp I've seen in the Asus probe monitor that came with my board is 45c, so I know that's ok. I just don't know at what temp I should start getting worried.

depends what you see...what were your Idle/load temps at stock...I try not to go more than 15-20c higher...but if it's stable who cares bout temps...not like it will ever really see 100% load very long in everyday use....

my temp sensors are off so mine says 24c fully loaded andthats overclocked...but my stock fully loaded is 22c if that tells you anything...

I'm not really a subscriber to the "burn-in theory". Lot's of folks will disagree with me on that point but I'm not in the mood to debate.

Most of my personal stuff gets overclocked, and that is right out of the box once I confirm stability at all stock settings.

15.5x and 16 will take 1.4v-1.45v...read that alot and mine is the same...

it wont hurt to bump the vcore...it's not going to hurt anything...and the additional vcore didnt raise my temps at all...so give it a try...but 15x at 3Gs runs sweet

Dont be a wus....you know you want to...it will wit 3.2ghz easy...

the only thing is if you start messing with the fsb you'll be messing with the secondary ram timings and it usually wont boot past 205mhz without changing trfc to 105 or 127.5

I change mine to 105 right off the bat anyhow...

bumping the vcore isnt going to hurt it one way or the other...I just wouldnt go past 1.6v....but you wont even get that high....

you'll be stuck at 16x i'll bet and you'll have to raise fsb from there...good luck...

oh and PS...dont blame your curiosity on me...lol ;)
