How to eat SPAM for dinner tomorrow...

So I've been dieting pretty hardcore for the last month and a half or so, but I've gotten to the point my craving for SPAM must be fulfilled. So I purchased a can and now am debating the proper way to eat it.

Yes, I purchased SPAM 'Lite' as it is quite a lot healthier than normal SPAM while remaining deliciously not healthy at the same time.

So this is what I've come up with, of course sides will vary depending on what I choose.

1. Mac 'n Cheese (homemade, of course) mixed with cubed SPAM and sautéed onions & mushrooms. A true staple of the SPAM cookbook.

2. Fried eggs and SPAM Benedict-style. Probably make some sausage (or SPAM?) gravy to go with it.

3. SPAM croquets - cubed SPAM mixed with onions, mushrooms, and garlic in a thick sauce. Breaded and deep-fried. F'ing delicious.

4. SPAM burgers. Probably fry the SPAM beforehand then grill the burger as a whole.

5. SPAM enchiladas. Never made these before, but I love inventing different kinds of enchiladas and this has serious potential.

I'm open to other ideas if you've got them. Anything off the wall is good, I'm searching through all kinds of various recipes seeing how I could mix it up with different ingredients. Doesn't matter how it's done, it'll be delicious.

Note: I'd appreciate only helpful comments in this thread. I don't care if you don't like SPAM, I don't care if you think it's made from 19 different animals, I don't care if you're a vegetarian and hate me for loving delicious food you can't have. I've heard it all before and don't need to hear it again, especially from tools that just spout their disgust at the product despite never trying it themselves.

What matters is I like it and I don't get it nearly as often as I want it. Which means that when I allow this vice, I'd like to maximize the pleasure I get from eating it.

Thank you for your input.

I've never had :spam: but I'll try to provide constructive input ;)

I love Mac 'n Cheese as well as mushrooms so #1 would be a winner

Another thing that might be worth a try is cubed :spam: served with asparagus and rice (we occasionally have this but with corned beef rather than the :spam: )

p.s. sorry for overusing the :spam: emoticon but I couldn't resist.

you could try Lobster Thermidor aux crevettes with a mornay sauce served in a provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and a fried egg on top and spam

Gmail used to have a link to spam recipes once your spam folder was empty..

The Macaroni & Cheese & spam casserole sounds decent, as well as the Jacks Spam pasta salad too. Man I haven't had spam in almost 15 years, probably back in Germany.

the spam site is pretty funny

Keep it simple.

Two slices of spam fried in olive oil, served between two slices of Texas Toast garnished with Tabasco Sauce, pepper jack cheese and fresh Jalapeño slices. Tastes great going in. Doesn't feel so good coming out :(

Warning, do not eat within four hours of bedtime, especially if you frequently suffer from heartburn.

Spam fritters. Slice the "meat", coat in batter and deep fry. Serve with chips, beans and possibly an egg. Add hash browns, black pudding (or white) and grilled tomatoes for a real winners treat.

I haven't tried it with maple syrup yet.

I was actually considering a fried rice of sorts earlier and forgot to put it in the list. I've done it before with great results and it certainly can't get much easier than that.

The SPAM emoticon is easily forgotten in everyday posts, I'm sure it doesn't mind being thrown out a few times in the same post. :spam:

Just another testament to the awesomeness that is SPAM. I absolutely love that website.

...While the stuff that I understand in that sounds good, I'm thinking it may be a little over the top for this meal. :)

Sounds like you should head out and buy some! I've been dreaming of cabinets full of it...

I wonder if it's cheaper in Hawaii...

Hmm, must be my young buns but hot'n spicy food has never affected me like that. Sounds like a delicious spin on the SPAM burger...

Interesting idea, sounds delicious. What kind of batter though, just something similar to what I'd fry fish in?

Oh yeah, I forgot about my original intent. Cut up the SPAM and fry it, put on top of a four cheese Tony's pizza with some spinach and onions and cook that sucker. Why the SPAM pizza hasn't caught on is beyond me.

Also, I wish they'd release a green version of SPAM just so they could call it "Soilent SPAM". :tooth:

techno, my suggestion was from a monty python skit... I don't know what most of that is either...

you could just eat it straight out of the can and save all the trouble

Ah, I knew about the song but I'm not a big Monty Python fan.

Grilled Spam with mushrooms, bell peppers and provologne cheese. All laid upon a bed of macaroni seasoned with peppercorns and garlic.

Doesn't seem like a bad call, I ate half the can for lunch, some on pizza the rest in an egg sandwich. I'm heavily leaning towards some macaroni variant for dinner. Gotta finish the can off in a day so I don't ruin tomorrow too...

This actually works out pretty well, I've done it before. :)
