ZOOMIE Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I've been looking for an inexpensive board to pair with an X2 5000 or 5600. That $84 sale @ the egg on the Black 5000 got my attention but I missed it. Still... it's only $95 now with free shipping. Anyway Epox has this board (EP-AF570+ULTRA) on sale for only $60 and I was wondering if anyone could let me know if it has any quirks that I should avoid and if it overclocks well. Doc....? dr_bowtie Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Dude.... I LOVE THIS BOARD.....it's a monster and comes with every bell and whistle you can think of... I have a regular 5000 Brisbane in mine and it hit 3.1ghz pretty damn easy... it has alot of overclocking options to boot...and higher would be easy with ram tweaking.... I pretty much just booted the board at 3Gs and primed it...it's fast board and I am happy with it....my Tforce 550 is a little faster at the same CPU speeds but thats do to bus speed itself... I run the 550 at 286mhz and the AF570 at 235mhz but other than that I love the board..I would definitely buy another one over any other board I have... I really didnt know any more were available...???
ZOOMIE Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Thanks Doc - Looks like a good deal to me. Any suggestions on memory? I was eyeballing the G.Skill 4Gb on sale @ Newegg for $79 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231122 or do you think the faster timings are worth an extra $20? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231148
dr_bowtie Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 with AM2 it doesnt matter... I use the cheap G-Skill NQs and they work fine....in the Epox I have the Patriot ddr2-800 LLKs and they run sweet...running then at 900mhz
ZOOMIE Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 OK thanks a lot - sure appreciate the advice. I ordered the board from Epox and I should have it next week. It's my first attempt with DDR2 -yeah, I know, I'm behind but I'm in the sweet spot for price.
