E3110 Xeon Wolfdale- any success stories yet?

I've just purchased the Xeon equivalent to the E8400- the E3110. whether it's equivalent or not i can't say lol- wolfdale 3.0ghz 1333 fsb and 6mb cache cant be bad..........

Supposedly it's an open secret they're the same chip. The Xeon's are supposed to be binned for server reliability and lower power consumption per clock- i dunno but lower power usage to me equals less heat- and possible higher clocks.

So I was wondering if anyone had one and had done any true testing yet. I've read a few reviews that looked favorable but they are usually biased or highly staged to look how the author wants.

BTW i don't plan to go for ultimate max on the chip- just a nice stable o/c on air without going to extremes.

my chip will arrive in a couple days so any help/advice is much appreciated.

I got mine about a week ago. Soon's I got it installed I went for the 4.0Ghz clock and got it  Just a few minor adjustments in the bios:

VTT: 1.20v with VID: +137mv + 1.28v effective

Vdimm @ 2.2v with 4-4-4-12. All other bios setting default. A 70mm fan added to the chipset sink and i was able to get my E3110 to run 8x500 orthos stable for 12+ hours overnite. Loaded temps never passed 49c. And to think I was going for the E8400. Glad i got the E3110 instead

Not sure how good yours will do on a 680i board tho, but these chips rock on a P35 board, no question.

Out of the box my initial o/c is much more modest. Just to give a try with everything stock and on auto- not bad at 375*9. 3.38ghz without any effort.

I've read about others that just set 400*9 and let it rip but i'll work up to it. Like I said- not going for max o/c but I'm going to test every bit of the way to be sure I don't stress anything too badly along the way.

I ran 3d06 at this setting and was not too surprised to find around the same score as i had with my [email protected] ghz- 8598. not a spectacular score but not too bad either.
