Angry_Games Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Google News Feeds ArsTechnica news From what I can tell based on what has been announced, the new triple-core Phenom is essentially what The Inquirer described it as—a quad-core Phenom with one core disabled. This should help alleviate some of the yield issues that are bound to plague a part this size, but only if the tri-core actually sells. Guest SuppA-SnipA Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 i imagine in one way they will be able to enable one of these cores? by some sort of hack?
Angry_Games Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 not if the cores are physically disabled
Praz Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Not only are the physically/electrically disabled but most if not all triple cores will exist because one core had some type of fault.
Guest SuppA-SnipA Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 TLB fault, right?
Praz Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Right now it appears that all shipping triple cores are the B2 stepping. So all will have the TLB bug.
