Bosco Posted July 20, 2002 Posted July 20, 2002 How does free sound? Linux is a free download. If you want redhat go to redhat.com, if you want mandrake go to mandrake.com click on download and find mirrors. Download the ISOS's, burn, and install
d3bruts1d Posted July 20, 2002 Posted July 20, 2002 Well, Linux is free... 'free' is as in 'free speech', not 'free beer'. You can download RedHat at ftp.redhat.com The current version is RedHat 7.3 (Valhalla), and is 3 CDs. There are 2 CDs that contain the SRPMS, but you probably wont need them for a while... Mandrake, Debian, SuSE, etc can also be downloaded from their websites...

DevilMB3017 Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 Thanks. I thought that you had to buy certain ones, but that must only be if you buy the CD's. Also, is there a website with the how-to of the Linux code? I just want some basics so I can mess with it. Thanks again! DevilMB3017 Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 I meant the kernal, i gotta remember to be more specific. I thought there might be a good site someone knew about, but I guess I can just look, that makes sense.
