P965-S HD Booting Priority Issue

I've had my P965-S mobo now for a good 9 months now. I've always had this minor annoying problem without being able to figure it out.

 

I currently have 3 HD's plugged in via sata. Every time I restart my pc or turn it off, windows will lock up trying to boot up. The only way I have been able to get it to boot to the desktop is to change the hard drive priority. Even though the correct hard drive is on the top of the priority, i have to move it down the list, move it back up, then save my settings, even though i haven't changed anything.

 

The only other way to eliminate this problem is to only have 1 hard drive plugged in. Windows will load each time. As soon as I add another hard drive, I get this random issue.

 

I've tried several different OS's, all getting the same results (XP pro 32-bit, vista 32 and 64-bit)

 

I'm currently not on that pc, but will pretty soon and find the bios version and such for ya guys.

edit: bios version is 4/24/2007

edit 2: I updated the bios to the 9/04/2007 version. I'm going to test this out to see if it makes any difference.

edit 3: I've had zero problems since the new bios
