RHKCommander959 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 I'm trying to find valves to help keep the system ressurized, but letting me bleed the system easily. i know it's gotta be T shaped, but i cant find anything good, for any good price. i'd also like a cap on the fillport line... for transportability  i'm gonna drill a hole in my new case when it comes, i'd prefer to have two little hex rings thathold the fillport-cap thing in place, one on the bottom of the case side, the other on top to hold it in place firm. i know something like that exists probaly, or that it can be done, but my city sucks for anything cool/hardware :tooth: so help would be greeeeatly appreciated. radodrill Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 No valves necessary; just put a T (or Y) fitting in the line to the pump inlet. For a cap system, just get a DangerDen fill-port; it already has a barb on the bottom, cap, and mounting hardware (you just have to drill a 1" hole)
RHKCommander959 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 oh i could use one for fill, one for drain eh? those look pretty slick too. i'll check on the DD again thanks:)
radodrill Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 It really is a closed loop; an open loop would be having the pump drawing from a bucket of water and have the loop drain into that bucket, kind of like a reservoir system; the T-line only serves as a way to get the water into the loop and allow the air to bleed out, also acts as an equalizing tube to compensate for evaporation. Having a drain line in there is also commonly done; just have the drain T at the lowest point in the loop.
RHKCommander959 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 heh yeah i realized that after i payed attention to it being sealed off... i was like 'duuur'. i'd like a drainport, but its near 20$ to get another one of these, and T connector, plus shipping. but i figure i can manage with this :tooth: thanks for the tips/info, i'll post pics when the new case, new tubes and fillport come

I did a drain port recently and where it REALLY came in handy was filling the lower part of my loop. Between it and the fillport, bleeding was cake as the loop filled without much air in it to start with.
radodrill Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Depends on how the loop is laid out; oftentimes the fill line can be used as a drain; but the way it's configured in my case that really isn't an option.
