Will ECC memory work on a non-ecc Motherboard?

i have a Epox 8kta3 Motherboard, it uses non-ecc memory, but will it accept ecc memory? i have read on some pages that it will, just wont use all the ram.

Some KT133A boards did, if you plan to mix it will not work.

I wouldn't recommend it.

 

You must get unbuffered memory.

Do not get buffered (aka Registered) memory.

ECC memory supported boards usually have a setting in the BIOS in memory configuration that enables ECC. It won't use error correction unless that is enabled. If you have some extra RAM, give it a try. I woundn't buy it just to find out though.
