Hello guys,

Yup i'm still in the s939 days, the x2 4200+ @ 2.7Ghz is still serving me well with what I do.
What I do want is some upgrade though... I will start first with memory..then maybe a vidcard...

I currently have 2x 512MB (1 GIG) of Corsair PC3200XL ,some really good memory.
I want another gig and since I know that the DFI mobo doesn't like mixed up ram I am wondering how the following will pair up with the corsair and if it's a good idea. Which will be then 4x512mb = 2 Gigs

Please advice guys.

Option1:

Option2:

Thanks!!

It would be quicker and easier way would be to just grab yourself 2X1g sticks, you can do 4x512 but it might take some work to get that o/c and stable again

anything but value ram remember with the 939 setups Mhz is king solong as you can use a divider you'll be fine but any of the name brands would be fine ocz, mushkin, gskill etc.
have a look through the ocdb here and see whats giving good results.
you should be able to pick some up fairly cheap too

A big consideration is whether you plan to overclock or not, which will determine whether you want to run PC3200 or PC4000.

Depending on what speed RAM you want to run, here are some recommendations;

so definately go for a new kit 2x1gb and not 2x512mb to pair up with the 2x512mb i already have ?

and btw wevsspot,thanks ...

I plan on OC'ing ... am currently @ 2.7 Ghz ...(from x2 4200+)
my current ram is Corsair PC3200XL ..

the A Data is the cheapest but will it OC fine and give me same results ?

If you are going to OC try and get a PC4000 2x1GB kit.
The above one should have Samsung UCCC chips.

Intel C2D E4500 250x11 2.75Ghz + Scythe Ninja
G.skill PQ series 2x2GB PC2-8000 @1000Mhz 5-5-5-15
Corsair TX 650W PSU
Seagate Barracuda 9 80Gb 8MB SATAII x2
Samsung 160GB external USB Vantec Nexstar
POV nvidia 6800GS, SB Audigy 4
Thermaltake Armour JR black
7, Vista HP64, XP home

I'm loving that memory, these are my 24/7 clocks, at 2.5v:

Obviously, YMMV.
