schoolslave Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Here's mine, back when I was volt modding my 7950GT: In the guides for this volt mod Ive read, it says to measure the voltage, the black probe from the multimeter should be grounded, well what is grounded?Last time I used my PC case and it caused an electrical current to destroy my windows install. I felt really stupid after that. And my mom came into my room and saw me sitting next to an open case with one hand putting the red multimeter probe on the GFX card and the black one on the case and a little trail of smoke from my HDD. lol. Never volt modded again after that.

dr_bowtie Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I borked a windows install on my new rig a couple weeks back by installing too much stuff at one time.... I had 2-3 install windows open at all times...when I rebooted somethings just disappeared like the sound driver... Once I installed it and tried it a little different the LAN driver borked in a good way...I usually get 340kb/s download speed but when the driver borked I saw up to 900kb/s speeds and it was freakin fast...I wish I could re-create that mistake again...but it also bork another program I needed at the same time... On my new rig re-loaded windows 5 times in 2 days until I was completely happy with it...been rock stable every since...

I meant installing it the day it came out wasn't a good Idea... maybe it was even service pack 1 I'm remembering... one of them screwed me all up... suedenim Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 The family got our first new PC a couple of weeks before christmas (back in 1996). I came in drunk on Christmas eve and thought it would be interesting to check out some of the apps on the boot disk. After typing format and p*ssing off the folks I decided to learn a bit more about PC's.
