Syngensmyth Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 I just ordered an Asus Eee from the Egg. Crazy as a loon no question but I am sick of not being able to get on line while out and about and my lappy is a 17" beast. Hope the thing works. The hacking community is active so it may fun and I should be able to destroy it in short order. Anyone have Eee experience?
red930 Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Anyone have Eee experience? Nope, but I'd totally buy one if I had $300. *sigh*

Syngensmyth Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I will give it a shot. Plan on using Linux briefly then small xp of some making. the sound on this thing is terrible but maybe to be expected.
Syngensmyth Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Typing on my EEE. Plugged it in and it worked. Wireless connected to my Linksys no problem. Wow is this thing small. I can't see much of this web page. But the screen is bright and clear with great color. I don't like the keyboard already. It is small as expected but some of the keys don't register easily. Maybe it will improve with time. I have to go slowly to make sure the letter appears or I'm continually backspacing. The keyboard is solid though, no flex I read about from some users. It is a solid unit. Opening the screen feels smooth and don't expect the hinges to break. Darn I have to hit some keys 3 times for them to register. Secretaries be ware. I don't plan on doing any legal briefs on it anyway ... The palm (3 tries on the m) rest gets warm. No moving parts? I think I hear a fan somewhere. It is a 900mHz Celeron running at 600mHz. I wonder what bumping it to 900 will do for heat? I will see. Keyboard will reduce wordiness (and maybe capitalization). I already have xp shrunk and nlite ready for eee but want to try linux for awhile. I am experiencing claustrophobia. So I am trying the music player and playing wma file over the network from my notebook. Sound is not bad or terrible from the speakers (or is it a speaker) and is quite good from head phones. red930 Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Are there any microSD slots on it? I seem to recall reading there were, but that's sort of critical to me.
Syngensmyth Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Yes it has sd but to use micro you need adapter I think, maybe micro are all that way. I have never used micro. Did I mention I hate this keyboard?
