Building My Monster Pc

Hi all,

A few months back I purchased all the parts I needed to build my dream monster PC. After I followed directions and got everything plugged into the right spots, I pushed the power button and the computer turns on, but it's like the computer doesn't recognize the monitor because the monitor is on, but there's no screen.

Now, I've tried 2 seperate monitors and came across the same problem, so I really don't know what's wrong. Am I missing a step here? I've also tried 2 different graphics cards (that I pluged the monitor into), and the same problem -- no screen. The monitor light just flashes like "I have no signal!"

Has anyone else ever had this problem, or at least can give me some insight into what could be wrong? I just gave up on it back in July because I couldn't figure it out, but I'd like to finally get it working so I can ditch my old computer. I really don't know how I'm supposed to get this baby to work so I can start installing the OS.

Help?

:withstupid:

If anyone can help me, or at least help troubleshoot me, I would be MOST appreciative! Please contact me at [email protected].

Thanks!

Couldnt the problem also be a problem with the graphics card... If you have a graphics card installd you should take it out and use the onbard graphics. You need to get the system running and then fire up your PCI and AGP Sockets with your 4 in 1s and then install the video card.

No beeps what so ever -- it's so odd.

My motherboard is the Asus P4G8X Deluxe, so it doesn't have any onboard graphics that I can see -- no place to plug in the monitor on that thing, otherwise I definitely would've tried that. The graphics card is fine because I've tried 2 different ones and I'm still stuck with the same issue. I could see if the CPU (Intel P4 3.06MHz) is on right, but I put the heat sink on correctly and secured it really good. I'll also see if the CMOS jumper is ok.

I as for cooling, I got the Thermaltake Xaser III case that came with many fans inside of it w/a cooling monitor, and a Thermaltake powersupply.

This is just kind of discouraging because -- this is after all my first time building a PC, I followed the directions to the T, spent well over $2k on this bad boy, and now can't even get a picture on the monitor -- no matter what monitor I plug into it.

Any more suggestions? I truly appreciate all the help I can get

Hmmm, I have had this problem before with an old computer that i was working on. I didnt have the patients to figure it out so I built a different one LOL. When your computer boots up you should have one system beep to assure that everything is ok. Make sure that your ram is inserted all the way and locked, also make sure graphics card is locked in place. Check your ide cables make sure they are all running correctly, the red wire on the end should be closest to the power input.

i built a system for my dad using that board the p4g8x delux and had no problem i used a agp video card maybe you should try a pci and a agp slot one, and since the system doesn't beep try to make sure if you plauged in the speaker connector on the motherboard, because that motherboard gave me no problem except i can't disable the sata. well good luck

:withstupid: Believe it or not, so many times I thought I screwed something up, it just ended up being something really stupid like power cables weren't pushed in all the way, or a Vcard wasn't in snugly, or memory was too loose. Jiggle everything once more and make sure it's all in correctly.

Go through every component.....

I'm thinking it could be 2 different things, possibly motherboard, or power supply. Even though the system turns on, it might not be powering the system properly. I have seen it before.

Another thing you can try is clearing the CMOS, to see if that helps the system boot.

I would see if you can snag a different motherboard temporarily to see if that is the problem. Same goes for PSU.
