RAM Match/Boot Problem

Recommended Posts

My Mobo is a DFI LanParty NF4 Ultra-D

I just bought new RAM - link here:

Put it in, wasn't booting. Put it in an older system with an ASUS mobo and it booted fine.

My original RAM = RAM A

My other system RAM = RAM B

My NEW RAM = RAM C

I have now tried the following combos:

AA = WORKS

AAC = FAIL

C = FAIL

AABB = FAIL

BB = FAIL

BBC = FAIL

Wtf is wrong with my mobo? For reference ALL above combinations work on my OLD system.

some boards are more finicky with ramski than others. you got a DFI, this can be an expected behavior.

obviously, your original ram is compatible, the other ram you have is not. does the new ram MATCH EXACTLY the original ram??? i am assuming not....

couple of tips, running with four sticks of ram in these boards is hit and miss, plus you will have a much better chance if the ram matches exactly (same PCB, same batch if possible)....

it would be prudent for you to make a signature of the components in your system, it would go a long way in helping you with your problem.

welcome to the fourms....

laterzzzz....

Hello,

Clear your CMOS for 10 minutes by moving the jumper to the clear position.

After the 10 minutes move the jumper back to the save position.

Place the new memory in the top orange slot.

And power the PC.

What happens now?
