uhhh help asap plz!

putting my new build together and it wont power on. The LED fans light up for .5 seconds when i press power but nothing else (attempts) to turn on.

well i will assume its DOA, how could i check if its just being overloaded, i unplugged a few things and it still wont power on.

i currently have 1 dvd and 1 HD and only the rear case fan and CPU fan plug into the mobo/PSU.

swtiched GPU and tried again saw a little smoke come from what looked like the CPU

i dont have another socket 775 cpu to try out to see if its the mobo or CPU

(1)Are all power connections on mobo connected?

(2)24 pin & 8 pin?

(3)Cpu fan on right connector?

(4)Mobo being shorted at standoffs?

 

1) Yes

2) no 24pin and 4pin

3) yes

4) uhh explain plz

Take the motherboard out of the case and set it all up on a towel, maybe the case is shorting something out on back of the motherboard. Did you at any time stress the board putting it together, like putting in the CPU fan. the slightest bend can sever tracks.

i am trying to raid the hard drives, this is my first intel and first gigabyte build, any one have a good link for me to follow or wanna take the time to explain.

 

oh and i seemed to have killed my dvd burner drive... guess it is time to order a nice SATA one
