AnUnknownSource Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 go get the k-lite codec pack from free-codecs.com and you'll be all set. you could also try this one but I prefer to get all the codecs I'll need all at once. never had a problem with k-lite. AnUnknownSource Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 if I remember right, I had trouble playing DVDs on this laptop when I first installed wmp11. I installed k-lite and it worked after... now I don't have wmp11, so I can't test... don't want it, don't use wmp10...
Syngensmyth Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 if I remember right, I had trouble playing DVDs on this laptop when I first installed wmp11. I installed k-lite and it worked after... now I don't have wmp11, so I can't test... don't want it, don't use wmp10... I've had the same thing happen. WMP decides it can't do it for some reason. I've even resorted to VLC when in a hurry and didn't want to fool with codex at the moment. I really don't use WMP for much any more. But I do the same as AnUnknownSource to fix WMP. MACarter02 Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 I've had problems with this before, and then I installed VLC. Don't use any other vid player now.
dr_bowtie Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 I use MP-10 myself...just because some of the MP3 players I have dont support 11.... 1st thing I do after installing 10 is to install Nero and I have never had an issue... But I have heard alot of people using K-Lite for codecs

taowulf Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 yeah, media player flat out lies about it's ability to read commercial DVD's More false advertising from MS!! I happen to have a legit PowerDVD key, so I use that instead. However, IF I lose it again, I might as well go VLC as I am using it for Linux too.
