No-Boot 4 or 3 LEDs

Hi all,

 

I've got a problem with my DFI Ultra-D.

 

The system didn't want to boot, just fans at high speed.

 

4 or 3 LED of debug (It depends, but more 4 than 3).

 

Test with another PSU (A Fortron Green 400 watts):

Still 4 or 3 LED.

Test with a 512 DDR Value Corsair PC3200 (Each time in a DIMM different):

Still 4 or 3 LED.

Test with a ATI Mach 64 PCI:

Still 4 or 3 LED.

 

And before each operation i've done a 24h CMOS like I read it somewhere on the forum.

 

I've tested the Antec PSU, the two G.Skill and the X1800XT elsewhere and they've worked.

 

I think the CPU works because sometime it passed the 'CPU Checked' thing.

 

Do you think my DFI is dead?

PS: And when it's 3 LEDs, my Power Led flashed.

re-seat your video card, make sure it is in the slot. Use a thumb on the top corner of the card and press down with some firm pressure. Not so much to break the card or the motherboard but enough to make sure it's seated. Sometimes the bracket on the card is tight and won't easily allow a video card to make contact with PCI-E pins.

 

If the video card isn't seated you will receive 3 lit LEDs, no video signal, and fans will spin at high RPM.

Often times it's the most simple things that are overlooked.

I've commanded an MSI K8N SLI to test the CPU and the GPU.

If it worked, that's the Mobo, so I will try to have a RMA.

 

When it starts with 4 LED (more often), the POWER Led works normally and the GPU Power Led works too.

When it starts with 3 LED, the POWER Led flashs and the GPU Power Led is down.

both of those PS's you have listed are not really on any approved listing for power hungry DFI's, so before you go off thinking it is the CPU or MB, read up on this....

give your rig a fair chance, the forums are littered with posts regarding PS problems, and if you don't have the minimum recommended (480w, and from listing i just provided), well, you may be spinning yer wheels....

Keep in mind underpowered PSUs will die much faster than one fitting for your system due to being run at above peak RMS power.

Ok. I'll try to find an Antec Trio 650W. I will let you know the result.

Try a new cpu, I am in the same boat. Tried a DFI infinty ultra and another power supply. No good, so now I am looking for a cpu.
