taowulf Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 My new gts 512 g92 will be here on the 3rd. People are getting insane oc's on them. One guy got about 17,4xx in 3d '06, but he also had a quad core cpu oc'ed to almost 4ghz. I know it's just a benchmark and it's synthetic, but I've been reading every review of these cards i can find, and it has it beating the gtx on many tests, as it is great for single monitors with a native rez of 12/10. I posted the link to orb here for people to see, but for some reason quite a few peoples links are busted. I have an account there and even logged in can't see some of them. People are clocking the core just over 800, over 2200mem, over 1900 shader speed. but they are doing it carefully. Anybody reading this that doesn't have practical experience, should either really take your time doing this, remembering that some cards are just better than others, and some can't achieve these speeds w/o artifacting, or lock-ups, or crashing. Individual cards are different, and here's to hoping we get good ones Thraxz! 800 and 2200 mem? Damn. Frikken GT can't get over 2016 mem and 799 core. That is with the voltage upped to 1.1v in BIOS. But I did get my shader clock to 1998Mhz. w00t. My eVGA step up will be good until Feb, so we will see if the new cards come out in time. otherwise a GTS might be in my future. and yeah. 128 shaders > 112 shaders
jaz Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 I can't wait 'til thraxz, (if he would be so kind) to post results of his oc'ing results.
oc newbie Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 My BFG 8800gts is running 750/1900/1000 with the fan running 70% and the temps have been great so far. I don't think I have hit the max with it yet but gotta play some games while I have time.
jaz Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 bewtween all the posts of people ocing these cards, the average safest seems to be about 785 core, 2150-2200 mem, a bit over 2000 shaders. (128 shader units). Decent temps via riva tuner. Stay away from ntune!
red930 Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Yeah, i would just go with the new 8800GTS 512 over the 8800GT 512/1GB. Besides from my experience i would think most of the 8800GTS/GT's can hit 700core/1700shader/2000memory easily.

Cranked the fan up to 100% and am running some 3dmarks with the core at 800, 2000 on the shaders and ram still at 2000. Will check the ram out after I find the cores limit and get some gaming done. Hemidare Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Nice sig Hemi! Or should i say Mr. Fettle? Thanx for the compliment. I am about to do away with him, beg all you like Mr. Fettle won't do you any good! Muahahahaha! Thought i really like FEAR so why not the bad guy from it. Just kinda getting into making little graphics like that, fun to see the outcome. BTW who is in your sig?
jaz Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Quite a few people have hit 800-820 on the core, (if you get a good card) and they said it's stable, but I haven't seen both the core and mem at those high settings at the same time. It's either the core over 800 and the mem around 2100 and a nice high shader speed, or a lower core with the mem and shader really high. But they wouldn't leave it that way to game. It's just a bragging rights thing. The reason they stay at 785 core is so they can raise the mem a little more. Maybe shaders speed too. When i do get my card i will oc it a bit, but i don't think I'm going to push it too far. I let others do that for me...lol. I'll just stay with the highest safe oc i see to save as a gaming profile in riva tuner. (luv that little program). Hemidare, My girlfriend is a graphics designer and made that image of herself for me to have someone (AceG in this case) make it into a sig. (Yeah right, then i woke up). I wish i knew. I found her floundering around so i whisked her away to Ace to work on. Didn't he do a great job? I like how the lighting interacts with the frame, lighting it up from one direction. I get lots of compliments on it, but the credit goes to Ace for making a sig out of the pic while keeping it's integrity.

jaz Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Yeah, i feel kinda "privelidged" that Ace did it. He does the best sigs I've ever seen in any forums. i didn't do anything 'cept buy the pc parts...lol. The congrats go to Ace. The privelidge goes to me! I got lucky. Thanks again for the compliment. Shucks....:shake:
