That is one sweet card. Wonder when bfg and xfx will be coming out with theres.

Hopefully they will be using something that uses something more then the 256bit memory interface. Then it will be able to use the 1 gb of ram!

I don't really think that extra 512mb would help very much with a 256bit memory interface.

The extra 512 might not make a big difference, but the third power phase will help with stability. That is their non reference 8800GT. 3 phase power and 1GB memory. I might sell my current Palit and upgrade to this one. Anyone know if it's using the Gaymonda RAM like the reference cards?

I found 4 comparisons based on the latest offerings from nvidea
8800GT 512 VS 8800GTS 640 >here,

8800GT 512 VS 8800 ULTRA >here,

8800GT 512 VS 8800GTS 512 >
here,

and finally, 8800GT 512 VS 8800GT 256 >here.

Edit; Just realized they're all in the same link. I was browsing and saw these seperatly, but when i clicked on them after posting i saw their interelated, but thought I'd leave them seperate so you can see that the comparisons are there in case you wanted to see a certain card vs another certain card. :)

I wonder at what point does the 256bit mem interface starts to bottleneck the memory? At 256?...lol. Is that a stupid question? Or does upping the shader speed compensate for the bottleneck? :dog:

I can't get over vcard makers not making double slot coolers to exaust that hot air out the back of the case. They are so much more affective, and many mobo makers are still putting things that need to be accessed in the way of these double coolers, like the cmos chip, or sata ports.
Nice sig Hemi! Or should i say Mr. Fettle?

Eh, I'm less interested in this card and more interested in the new 8800GTS 512mb. The extra shader freq/shader units/core speed means WORLDS more than an extra 512mb of ram stuck essentially glued onto the old card.

Speaking of which, I heard about this card.... an then bought a new GTS

My new gts 512 g92 will be here on the 3rd. People are getting insane oc's on them. One guy got about 17,4xx in 3d '06, but he also had a quad core cpu oc'ed to almost 4ghz. I know it's just a benchmark and it's synthetic, but I've been reading every review of these cards i can find, and it has it beating the gtx on many tests, as it is great for single monitors with a native rez of 12/10.

I posted the link to orb here for people to see, but for some reason quite a few peoples links are busted. I have an account there and even logged in can't see some of them. People are clocking the core just over 800, over 2200mem, over 1900 shader speed. but they are doing it carefully.

Anybody reading this that doesn't have practical experience, should either really take your time doing this, remembering that some cards are just better than others, and some can't achieve these speeds w/o artifacting, or lock-ups, or crashing. Individual cards are different, and here's to hoping we get good ones Thraxz!

Ah, I'll let you know how mine works. I'm thinking about installing it as we speak and seeing what she can do.

1G on this card is moot considering the other specs. Just marketing.
