[Resolved] DFI Ultra-D CD Download

Recommended Posts

Anybody know where I can download the CD with the drivers and utilities for the LanParty UT nF4 Ultra-D?

I tried downloading the individual drivers from the DFI site but they didn't work too well..

Thanks.

  • 2 weeks later...

Bump. I too went to DFI's driver download section but the latest nforce chipset driver is revision 6.66 with a date of 11/23/2005. I know there has got to be a newer version out there.

When you say go to the chipset manufacturer for the latest drivers, you mean to download from Nvidia correct? My only question to that is will those drivers include the SW-IDE and other necessary drivers? If not, which ones are not included and where do I get them? I ask because I am about to do my re-install and want the latest stuff ready to install as soon as XP is loaded. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks man. One last question. For the Lan Drivers. What is the difference between the regular port and the gigalan port? When I first setup my system, I could not get a connection with the gigalan port. I had it enabled in the bios and installed the drivers from the disk, but still didnt work. So right now I only use the standard ethernet port. I am going to download the LAN drivers from the DFI page. Unless of coarse you can help me out with a link to marvells download page. ;)

Both network ports are gigabit; the difference is that the Vitesse is integrated into the nForce chipset, while the Marvell is a separate network adapter integrated into the motherboard.

Assuming you're going to install the 32-bit XP; here's the driver you'd need for the Marvell LAN:

Yes it is the 32 bit bersion of XP.

Thanks for the link, it's much appreciated.

I am a little lost with your comment on the two ports. Shouldnt either one of them work for ethernet? I currently have the gigalan port disabled in the bios. I am no dummy with buidling computers and messing with the bios etc..., but the onboard ethernet of this board has got me confused. Especially after what you just said. What is Vitesse? Will the Marvell driver work with that port? Do I need both drivers from marvell and DFI? I hate to say it, but you made me so confused, lol.

OK trying to dumb it down a bit

The rear IO has 2 LAN ports;

- one is controlled by the Vitesse and integrated in the nVidia nForce chipset (drivers in the nForce driver package)

- the other is controlled by the Marvell chip and connected across the PCI bus (but soldered to the motherboard)

Either of the ports can be used to connect to the LAN/internet providing the drivers are installed and it's enabled in the BIOS; if you disable the Marvell LAN in the BIOS then you don't need to install the Marvell drivers.

Well that makes more sense now. But it doesnt answer the question as to why I couldnt get an internet connection using the Marvell port with it enabled in the bios and I blieve the drivers installed. I will probably enable it and download those drivers before the re-install to see if it works. Is there any advantage of one over the other? I know the gigalan is 10/100/1000 and the other is 10/100, but when will I ever be able to utilize the 1000 bandwith? As long as I can still download from the net at 1200 KB/s I am happy, lol.

Both ports are rated for Gigabit speeds (10/100/1000Mbps).

For home use the Gigabit only makes a difference for home networking; with a Gigabit switch/router the networked computers can transfer files a lot faster. In terms of connecting to the internet though, it won't make any difference; the CAT5 ports on cable/DSL modems generally are only rated for 10/100Mbps and the actual connection speeds to the ISP are generally less than 10Mbps.

in terms of your LAN port not working; I'm afraid I've never had an Ultra-D so I wouldn't really know what's going on there.
