momoceio Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102717 This seems like a really great deal for a pretty decent card. You could buy two of them, flash them to 2900XT then crossfire them.
wevsspot Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 That is an outstanding price on that card. My only concerns for Crossfire configuration with two of those cards would be; 1. Power Consumption (in the neighborhood of 500W just for the cards) and 2. Noise, gosh those fan designs were noisy
Thraxz Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Keep in mind this is the 256bit version, not the 512bit. A) Who gives a rats butt about power consumption? It's less than a GTXs and no one seems to complain about them. B) Did you own one? They only got noisy if you turned it up past 45%. At 37% default it's silent. momoceio Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 256bit seems sufficient though...at least for the 8800GT's and 8800GTS 512.

No, I've never owned a HD2900, but the fan design looks very similar to the ones they used on the X1900 and X1950 cards, which I have done several builds with, and they were noisy. Will that cooling solution keep the card and memory cooled running at 45% duty cycle?
