I have made a good bit of money fixing people 3 RLOD, including my own.

It kind of sucks, that I had to fix, the heatsinks and the dvd drive. But with that said, if I were your average joe blow who didn't like to fix things, I would have blown up my 360 with a healthy amount of HE. Anyway, the money I made fixing these things, I like the 360. As crappy as it's been, it's endeared me in a way no other product other than microsoft can, one solved headache after another.

True story, one guy gave me his 360 right after getting it back from MS and it was all wet inside. Dried it up, fired right up, haven't heard from the guy sense, that was 3 months ago.

Is the 360 an acceptable product compared to the first xbox? Hell effing no.

Travis, that rant was f**cking awesome, and I just happened to have completely abandoned my 360 in it's entirety based upon several reasons:

1. There's a greater emphasis on multiplayer than the single player campaigns, which is one of several hundred reasons why 99.999% of games today are no longer than 12 hours in length achievements or no achievements.

2. As mentioned already, the single player experience has deteriorated and almost every single game on the Xbox 360 is meant for multiplayer, and nothing more. Of course there'll be a single player campaign, but most jump right into multiplayer, as single player anything is of no importance.

3. The games get boring really, really, really quickly. I mean, after about one complete pass through any game it no longer means jack . to me, which needless to say is a complete waste of $60.

4. Multiplayer = competition, which also equates to thousands and thousands of smart-mouthed, unintelligent, extremely dim-witted jerks who can go on and on about how they did this and that to these people with this and that weapon.

Which is why I went about get myself another Playstation 2 (something I should have never sold in the first place). The games may only be a few hours longer at the very best, but almost every single PS/PS2 game can be played over, and over again.

To be honest, once I finish with DMC 4, I'm going to go right back to the consideration of getting rid of it.

PS2 = Guitar Hero 1, 2, 80's, 3

competition is not for me either

co-op...is awesome. That's what we are doing right now with this pc game Sins of a Solar Empire. Rock Band on the 360 as well. Rainbow Six Vegas except it aint gonna be but 2 player co-op in #2 =(

not enough co-op in the world which is why girls still don't dig gaming the hardcore stuff with us =/

I'll consider getting a 360 if Lian-Li actually brings out the aftermarket case they showed at Cebit.

I still don't understand why consoles don't just match the same dimensions normal rack equipment have. I don't want a cheap lump of hot white plastic sitting outside of my entertainment center. I want a large, bulky black box (heh) that is efficient and powerful.

Oh, and doesn't break down.

It's a good idea to get the biggest hdd you can afford with the xbox when you buy it then.

nah, here's the best thing you can do:

get a 120-150GB 2.5" laptop hdd or regular 3.5" IDE/SATA hdd and put it in an external USB2.0 enclosure, then format it with FAT32 to the maximum size of 137GB (you'll have to 'trick' it to do this, google for it as FAT32 is usually limited to 32GB when formatting inside windows).

DO NOT buy . on Live like...tv shows, movie rentals, etc. What a xxxxing waste of money. I honestly can't believe people are stupid enough to pay $3 or whatever to RENT a television show that can be seen for FREE (whether you watch it on your tv at the time it came on or you downloaded the episode from the show's website or you downloaded the episode from BitTorrent).

As for movies... I get Netflix so why would I pay to rent per-movie on Xbox Live?

We have DirecTV so that means we got xxxxed on our local television channels. Which means shows like Heroes come in about as fuzzy as a peach but not even close to being ripe and delicious. What does one do in this situation? Grab the episode off bit torrent, and hey, commercials are already cut out! Grab the Xvid/Divx encoded version, put it on the external hdd, plug the external hdd into the Xbox360, and blammo, watch it. sazzASaszZ coffee on keyboard xxxx xxxx xxxx

Netflix also allows streaming of movies and TV shows depending on the package you get. We tried this the other day and it looks about as good as a normal DVD really. Only downside is it forced the installation of Media Player 11. Which isn't in itself bad but required all kinds of other updates to the computer before it could be downloaded. Glad it wasn't my computer.
