Weak Memory Controller

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I just wanted your opinion on what I should do.

Apparently my mobile CPU has a craptastic memory controller.

I can't boot 2gb unless I have a divider going on.

Anyways, these are the choice I have setup:

Either run my CPU @ 2.65Ghz

and Have 1GB memory @ 188Mhz

or Have my CPU @ 2.65

and 2GB Memory @160Mhz.

Which would you rather recommend?

I'll take door #2, bob. You will probably see more of an impact trying to run on one gig slightly higher than running 2 slightly slower. 26Mhz is not that much of a difference. 1 more GB of RAM is.

whenever you load up the memory bus, in this case w/four sticks, you are going to have to lower the ram speed.....

ditto on the 2gig runnings, mucho better overall.....also, even though you may have to lower the divider, your system will be much snappier and actually respond better when your ram chips are 'happy'....

laterzzz.....
