alexfort93 Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Ok well I just installed XP Home on top of XP Pro, so I had to wipe the entire hard drive to do this. I did a backup of all my settings and files through the wizard that Windows has onto my storage drive. But now when I try to load them back in, it is saying that it cannot find the stored information. Is there anything I can do or do I have to start from scratch? Branjo Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Did you convert your storage drive to dynamic by any chance and why did you choose home over pro?
alexfort93 Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Not sure how to even do that, so I don't know. How can I check? I went to Home because the XP Pro that was on my computer wasn't mine, a friend of mine gave me his disc to use, so I just figured I'd put on my own. Branjo Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Ah I see, I have never used the files and settings transfer wizard myself, I like to do it from scratch every time, fresh is best IMPO. I think but im not sure that you have to do it with 2 separate hard drives which have a windows installation on each, but again its not something I have done before. I just have a backup drive with stuff I can't afford to lose, pics, music, movies, setup files and family vids that kinda thing.
