I am looking for a cheap am2 mobo with decent onboard video that overclocks well, I know im asking alot here but Im upgrading my G/Fs computer and i wanted to spend like 60 bucks max on the MB, i putting in a x2 4000+ brisbane

with 2x1Gb g skill pc 6400 and was hoping to oc it to atleast 2.5Ghz.

She doesnt play any hardcore games, just things like bejeweled and crap like that so i dont need a board with top notch onboard video, any ideas?

ya i looked at the one but on of the users commented there wasnt any voltage settings for cpu or memory, thats going to limit me, I take that back after reading all the reviews, theres a guy with the same chip and memory that got his at 2.6, that boards a good option, just one other problem, this board like many of the newer board only has one ide slot, i need 2, one for the hdd and one for the cd drive,

i guess i could pick up a cheap sata cd drive

1 ide will run 2 devices just make sure they are jumpered properly.

Either a Gigabyte board or a Biostar mATX board will work great....

Most of them have great OC options and can hit 300fsb with onboard enabled....

but why would you give your GF a OC'd PC...if you do make sure she knows what to do if it messes up...;)

A nice board and a 5000+ CPU is really powerful... if she isnt gaming dont overclock it...really no need to...

we live together so im always here to fix it, i wanted a budget build for her and i wanted her to see a big difference from her 32 bit barton 2500+ thats stock at 1.8Ghz and she only has 512ram lol, i want this computer to stomp on that hard enought that she'll even notice a difference, ofcourse 4x more ram will be helpful but i wanted to go up quite a bit from 1.8ghz for cheap

just going to AM2 and 2gig of ram with any CPU with show and improvement...

I have an old 3000-XP Barton here right now I am refurbing and compare to my NF2-250/3400 its slow...

but even compared to a 3600X2 with 2x1gb ram and a cheap video card will seem like miles difference...

If she is into video encoding stuff...just opt for a cheap C2D set up...mATX board and a e2160/e2180 those clock very well and are plenty powerfull....

just about any mATX board will make that Brisbane fly....you will have more fun getting the ram to play nice than you will learning the overclock of the board...

Either the TForce 7050 or 690 would be my choice....I am going to opt for the 690 here in a bit...you should be able to hit 3Gs pretty darn easy on 1.4vcore...that cpu will hit 2.8ghz on default vcore if you set the ram up right...and from there its going to be either 1.35v or up to 1.45v but not any higher...

I'd set it at 2.8ghz on the 1.25v and leave it go at that....plenty fast;)
