Does Corsair 620HX PSU work with NF4 Ultra-D? (Seasonic S-12 issue fix

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at purchasing a Corsair 620W PSU.

Unfortunately, I recently became aware that there may be an issue with this PSU and the NF4 Ultra-D because it is manufactured by Seasonic.

Was the Seasonic DFI compatibility issue fixed?

Are Corsair 620W PSU affected?

If yes, has this been corrected in any product revisions?

Thanks

I used an early model HX620 with my Ultra-D. Thus as far as I am concerned it was fine. Not a huge load as I only had modest hardware back then. Nevertheless it was a rock solid unit.

The issue was fixed (new revision A3) quite a while ago and does not involve the Corsair PSUs.

The information from the last few pages of the Seasonic incompatibility thread contained some conflicting information. There were a few posts suggesting that the issue would be fixed in a 3rd revision. However, a page or two later there was an official response from Seasonic posted that more or less refused to acknowledge any problem, nor was any statement made about a fix.

The reason I posted this question was due to a conversation I had with a member of Corsair's tech support a few days ago. The support tech more or less conveyed that the 620HX would not work with the Ultra-D motherboard, even though the NF4 Ultra-D was compliant with ATX 2.01 and that they'd had some issues with that board.

I figured I would post here to try and receive some clarification since I'd seen a few people with the DFI NF4 Ultra-D and Corsair 620HX configuration.

What kind of problems are we discussing? I use an S-12 A02 and I have no issues at all. I also have a corsair 620HX so I can try that and I'll let you know if that one has any issues, but I can't imagine it would. Let me know what I would be looking for

I have both the HX620 and the HX520 units. Replaced the failed Antec unit in my Nf4 Ultra-D with the HX520 almost a year ago and it dosen't miss a beat. Liked it so much I used a HX620 for my Core2 e6600/8800GTS build last June. The quality is evident as soon as you open the box. This is the first I have heard about any incompatability issues.

OK well as my sig says (it might have changed because I'm going to go change it after this post) I had (until last night) a Seasonic S12-600w rev. A02 PSU installed on my system. Never had an issue.

I recently purchased a Corsair 620HX from eBay for 100$ and the Antec Nine Hundred Case. I transfered my current rig into the Nine Hundred and also installed the 620HX. I am going to put the Seasonic in my rig downstairs as it needed a PSU upgrade (my other rig is an HTPC with 7 HDD's and only had 430 watts) and I also wanted a quieter PSU in the HTPC.

Any way, I just transferred all my components last night but so far I have had zero issues. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to purchase one of these baby's - they are sweet. I lose the plug configuration a la antec PSU's but its Seasonic so boy is this thing quiet and efficient. Best all around PSU's on the market

EDIT: OK my sig holds both my machines, but I have used both the S12 and now the 620HX without issue on my DFI MoBo

  • 3 weeks later...

Just to update thread...

After some discussion with Angry, I went ahead and took the plunge on a Corsair 620HX.

Installed the unit in the second week of December in combination with a DFI NF4 Ultra-D.

No stability issues have been encountered that can be attributed with the Corsair unit in this build configuration.

Sig updated...
