taowulf Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 It looks like we might have a nice little present in store after Christmas according to this. Yeah, and the unwashed masses that own 680i mobos have been screaming for a couple of weeks because the Yorkfields won't work on the 680i chipsets. Most people have the eVGA mobo, so they can step-up to the 780i mobo. The others...well, too bad
Renegade5399 Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Only the evga NF68 680i owners can step up and they only have a short window to do so. If you have a NF63, 67, etc, you're SOL.
kitfit1 Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 I suppose in hindsight, there's a lot to be said about sticking with Intel chipsets for Intel cpu's. A costly mistake for some, that i am shure they won't make again in the future. An even bigger mistake for Nvidia as well i think. Guest DaddyD302 Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Most people have the eVGA mobo, so they can step-up to the 780i mobo. The others...well, too bad I'm number 983 on the que list. Still waiting on the pending part, will not get a chance to test it till after new years. Upgrade to the 780i for $90 isn't a bad deal, even if I have to send my old 680i in. Yorkfield better be worth it...
kitfit1 Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Yorkfield better be worth it... I think you will find it, well worth it. I'm waiting on the Wolfdales myself (no use for a Quad ). Everything i have seen and read about them already says to me that we are in for a very good period of clocking .
